Spiced Brown Sugar Tilapia

  • (1 lb.) tilapia fillets
  • (1 tsp.) Chinese five-spice powder
  • (1/4 cup) reduced-sodium soy sauce
  • (3 Tbsp.) light brown sugar
  • (1 Tbsp.) canola oil
  • (3) scallions, thinly sliced

Spiced Brown Sugar Tilapia

Seasoned five-spice tilapia served with fresh scallions and a soy and brown sugar pan sauce.

  1. 1Place a large nonstick skillet over medium-high heat. Add oil.
  2. 2In a small bowl, mix together soy sauce and brown sugar. Season both sides of each tilapia fillet with five-spice powder.
  3. 3Cook 2 minutes, then flip and reduce heat to medium. Whisk soy mixture once more and add to pan, bring a boil and cook another 2 minutes. Remove from heat, add scallions and serve with pan sauce.
