Beef Pot Roast w/Homemade Gravy

Ingredients:
  • (3 lb.) beef sirloin tip roast, cut in half
  • (1 cup) water
  • (1 tsp.) seasoned salt
  • (1/2 tsp.) reduced-sodium soy sauce
  • (1/2 tsp.) Worcestershire sauce
  • (1/4 tsp.) garlic powder
  • (1 large) tart apple, quartered
  • (1 large) onion, sliced
  • (2 Tbsp.) cornstarch
  • (2 Tbsp.) cold water
  • (1/8 tsp.) browning sauce

Beef Pot Roast w/Homemade Gravy

A tender, slow-cooked beef pot roast served with a homemade gravy made from the flavorful cooking liquid.

    Instructions

  1. 1Spray a large, nonstick skillet with cooking spray and place over medium-high heat. Add roast and cook until browned on all sides. Place into a 5 quart slow cooker.

  2. 2Pour water into skillet, stir with a wooden spoon, scraping up browned bits. Add to slow cooker along with salt, soy sauce, Worcestershire sauce, garlic powder, apple and onion.

  3. 3Cover and cook on low 5-6 hours. Set aside roast and onion, discard apple.
  4. 4Strain cooking liquid into a saucepan and place over High heat. Bring to a boil and cook 15 minutes, or until reduced to about 2 cups.
  5. 5In a small bowl, whisk together cornstarch and cold water. Add browning sauce, pour into skillet. Return to a boil and stir 2 minutes to thicken.

  6. 6Serve 3 oz. beef topped with 3 Tbsp. gravy. Enjoy!
