Spice Cookies

  • (3/4 cup) all-purpose flour
  • (1/2 tsp.) baking powder
  • (1/2 tsp.) ground cinnamon
  • (1/2 tsp.) ground ginger
  • (1/2 tsp.) ground white pepper
  • (1/4 tsp.) ground cloves
  • (1/4 tsp.) baking soda
  • (1/4 tsp.) salt
  • (1/3 cup) packed light brown sugar
  • (3 Tbsp.) margarine or butter, softened
  • (1/4 cup) mild molasses

  1. 1Preheat oven to 350°F. Spray a large cookie sheet with cooking spray.
  2. 2Combine flour, baking powder, cinnamon, ginger, white pepper, cloves, baking soda and salt in a large bowl, set aside.
  3. 3Use an electric mixer on low to beat together brown sugar and margarine. Once blended, beat on High for 2 minutes. Add molasses, beat on medium to combine.

  4. 4Add flour mixture, stir by hand to combine.
  5. 5Drop by rounded teaspoonfuls onto a baking sheet, leaving 4 in. in- between. Press each cookie down slightly into a 2 in. round. Bake 8-10 minutes.
  6. 6Cool on pan 3 minutes, then on a wire rack until completely cooled.
