Ingredients:
  • (4) ripe Bosc pears with stems, washed and dried
  • (2 cups) Riesling or other fruity white wine
  • (1/4 cup) honey
  • (4) cinnamon sticks
  • (4) bay leaves
  • (4 strips) orange zest

Wine Basted Pears

Whole pears basted in a sweet wine sauce.

    Instructions

  1. 1Preheat oven to 400°F. Stand pears upright in a baking dish (slice bottoms if they won't stand up).
  2. 2In a medium bowl, whisk together wine and honey. Pour over pears an place cinnamon sticks, bay leaves and orange zest in the pan. Bake 45-60 minutes, basting every 15 minutes, until tender.

  3. 3Transfer wine to a small saucepan and place over High heat to boil. Cook 6 minutes, or until thick. Serve over pears.
