Crumbly Butterscotch Bars

  • (2 cups) all-purpose flour
  • (2 1/2 cups) firmly packed light brown sugar
  • (2 tsp.) baking powder
  • (1/2 tsp.) salt
  • (10 Tbsp.) unsalted butter
  • (3/4 cup) egg substitute

Crumbly Butterscotch Bars

Brown butter mixed with flour until crumbly then baked until golden brown.

  1. 1Preheat oven to 350°F. Spray a 13x9 in. baking pan with cooking spray.
  2. 2In a large bowl, stir together flour, sugar, baking powder and salt, set aside.
  3. 3Place a small skillet over medium heat. Add butter. Cook 6 minutes, stirring every few minutes. Pour into a small bowl and set aside 10 minutes. Whisk in egg substitute, add to flour mixture and stir.

  4. 4Pour into greased pan, smooth into an even layer and bake 30 minutes, or until a toothpick comes out clean. Cool on wire rack and serve.
