Deep Dish Apple Pie w/Pecan Crisp

  • (1) frozen deep-dish piecrust in pan
  • (1/2 cup) chopped pecans
  • (1/4 cup) all-purpose flour
  • (1/4 cup) packed brown sugar
  • (2 Tbsp.) butter or margarine
  • (1 large) egg white
  • (1/4 cup) granulated sugar
  • (2 Tbsp.) cornstarch
  • (1/2 tsp.) ground cinnamon
  • (3 lb.) Granny Smith, Golden Delicious, and/or Gala apples, each cored, peeled, and cut into 8 wedges
  • (1 Tbsp.) fresh lemon juice

Deep Dish Apple Pie w/Pecan Crisp

  1. 1Preheat oven to 375°F. Set out crust to thaw 15 minutes.
  2. 2In a small bowl, combine pecans, flour and brown sugar. Add butter and use your hands to mix together until crumbly, set aside.
  3. 3Prick crust all over with a fork and bake 12-15 minutes. Use a pastry brush to brush crust with egg white as soon as it comes out of the oven. Turn oven up to 425°F.

  4. 4In a large bowl, mis together granulated sugar, cornstarch and cinnamon. Add apples and lemon juice, toss to combine.
  5. 5Cover and microwave on High 6 minutes, stir and microwave another 6 minutes. Pour into crust, top with pecan mixture.
  6. 6Bake 10-12 minutes, or until golden brown. Cool on a wire rack and serve.
