A fairly large percentage of individuals, at some point throughout their life, have gained excess body weight. This being true for so many individuals, why are some more likely to lose the excess weight while others aren’t?
For individuals where the weight gain is not related to a physical medical condition, it’s well known that effectively losing weight and thereafter, maintaining a healthier weight level is just as much a mental challenge as it is a physical one.
Without proper motivation, focus, and the implementation of a sound mental strategy, it can be all too easy to succumb to the temptation of returning to your old eating habits. Now, a clinical study on high fat diets is pointing to a very concrete reason as to why that may be.

How to Stick to Your New Year’s Resolution
New Year’s Eve is just around the corner, and if you are like many of the millions of other Americans, you have probably already spent quite a bit of time thinking about what your New Year’s Resolutions will be for the upcoming year.
It is human nature for a large majority of the population to look forward to the upcoming year with optimism and hope. For this reason, it is also easy to define a set of goals that you would like to change about yourself.
For example, start a weight loss program, exercise more, quit smoking, get promoted to a higher position at work, go back to school, and so on. This being said, literally millions of people define their New Year’s Resolutions year in and year out and thereafter, fail to achieve them.
In fact, the unfortunate truth is that there is a high probability that the majority of New Year’s Resolutions that are made each and every year will not be achieved, let alone even survive through the first couple weeks in January.

Excess Beer Drinking Boosts Gastric Cancer Risk
Many individuals enjoy drinking a couple of beers after a hard day’s work or at social events and gatherings. Yes, multiple clinical studies have shown how drinking a beer a day can produce health benefits, while, at the same time, stressing the point that consuming any type of alcohol in excess will cause more harm than good. However, other than potential liver damage, loss of motor skills, impaired judgment and a hangover the next morning, what are the actual negative health effects associated with excess beer drinking?
A new clinical study has concluded that drinking beer beyond a point of moderation on a regular basis can significantly increase your risk of developing gastric cancer in the future. In addition, the increase in probability is heightened for individuals with a particular gene variant.

High Resting Heart Rate Predicts Heart Disease, Study Suggests
The term “heart disease” is a general term that is used to describe a wide range of diseases that affect the heart. The various types of diseases that fall under the term heart disease include diseases of the blood vessels, often called coronary artery disease; heart rhythm issues (arrhythmias), infections of the heart, and heart defects that individuals are born with, congenital heart defects.
Within many medical circles, the term “heart disease” is used interchangeably with the term “cardiovascular disease.”
Cardiovascular disease is typically associated with conditions that involve plaque build up along the inner walls of the arteries of the heart which, in turn, narrows the arteries and reduces blood flow to the heart.
This condition is called ischemic heart disease (IHD) and can lead to a heart attack, chest pain (angina) or stroke. Ischemic heart disease is the most common form of heart disease. Additional types of heart conditions and issues, including infections and events that affect the heart muscle, valves or beating rhythm, also fall under the general term of heart disease.
