The Freshman 15 is Only the Beginning, Study Says
The current academic year is now underway, and millions of college freshmen have headed off to universities throughout the country in hopes of working towards a degree. Fitness-minded college students have another big goal in mind, however: avoiding the dreaded “Freshman 15.”
The Freshman 15, of course, is referencing the 15 pounds that many college students typically gain after heading off to college for the first time.
This commonly occurs because most college students are leaving behind their relatively carefree schedules, high school athletics programs and home-cooked meals for the toils of balancing a busy class schedule with work, new social opportunities, and of course – dorm food.
Indeed, the temptation of three high-fat, endless-calorie meals per day served buffet-style at the college campus cafeterias can be too much for the hungry, tired and highly-stressed college newcomers to resist.

Lose Weight Recently? Time for a New Fitness Plan
For dieters and exercisers throughout the world, losing excess body weight is often only half the battle. For many individuals, the real struggle begins when it comes to successfully keeping the weight off, making the dreaded “yo-yo dieting” an all to common phenomenon that can actually be more difficult to achieve than initially losing weight in the first place.
Although recent studies indicate that yo-yo dieting is still a healthier practice than remaining obese, everyone would strive to maintain their new, trimmer physique and the multitude of health and wellness benefits that accompany an appropriate body weight. According to researchers at Penn State University, the primary techniques and strategies that lead to safe and effective weight loss are often quite different from the techniques and strategies that assist in keeping the weight off over the long run.

In addition, there’s more, as some of the foods listed below are readily available in a variety of lotions, serums, and creams that are specifically designed to be externally applied to the skin to reduce several of the more common skin conditions, including fine lines, texture, acne, pore size, dryness, and uneven skin tone, to name a few.
So, the next time you are in the grocery store, you might find yourself heading over to the produce section or the coffee aisle instead of the skincare section to purchase the produce products to assist in addressing and satisfying your skin and beauty needs.

Want Your Kids to Eat their Veggies? Don’t Force Them, Study Says
We are all familiar with, at times, the never ending battle to get our kids to consistently eat their vegetables. Although your first instinct might be to use pressure to get your children to eat their vegetables, perhaps even threatening discipline as a consequence of not doing so, a new study reports that you may be doing more harm than good.
The study, conducted at England’s Loughborough University, located in Leicestershire, indicated that parents who urge their children to eat a certain type of food greatly reduce their chances of their kids actually doing so.
The study included a population of 104 mothers, all with children between the ages of 3 and 6. The parents answered a series of questions regarding their children’s eating habits.
Once all of the questionnaires were completed by the parents, the responses were then gathered and compiled. Thereafter, the results were clinically analyzed to determine the results and conclusions of the study.

5 Awesome Foods to Build Muscle
In general, most individuals that regularly strength train are looking to either significantly increase their muscle size and density or, at the very least, proportionally tone and sculpt the various muscles of their body.
There are three primary functions that contribute to increasing quality lean muscle tissue: regularly and consistently performing the strength training workouts, consuming nutritionally rich whole foods that are well balanced in terms of protein, carbohydrates, and fat, and ensuring that your body receives plenty of sleep.
The intent of this article is to discuss 5 foods that are ideal for supporting muscle growth and development. After every weight lifting session, you should be thinking about consuming high quality carbohydrates, not just protein.
In addition to restoring glycogen levels in the muscle tissue that was lost performing the exercise routine, the carbohydrates will also provide a healthy boost to your insulin, the hormone that acts as a vehicle to bring amino acids directly to your muscles.
