Study: Red Meat Shaves Years Off Your Life
The next time you’re about to sink your teeth into a colossal hamburger or juicy porterhouse steak, consider the following: according to a recently published clinical study, the data suggests that eating red meat on a regular basis will make you more likely to die within a given period, especially if the red meat has been processed.
In other words, the study concluded that red meat shaves years off your overall life expectancy when regularly consumed as part of your overall dietary regime.
In addition, the study also found that by simply replacing the red meat with leaner, healthier protein sources including nuts, legumes, poultry and fish you can greatly lower your probability of dying at a younger age.

Women’s Stroke Risk Reduced by Daily Alcoholic Beverage
A number of studies have indicated the cardiovascular health benefits of drinking alcoholic beverages for women such as wine and beer in moderation, concluding that consuming one drink per day is a health-positive lifestyle choice for many adults.
The key point here being moderation as many individuals are all to familiar of the detrimental aspects of regularly consuming too much alcohol, whether it be from personal experience or from observing a friend or relative.
A recently published study suggests that women who drink one glass of wine per day are significantly less likely to have a stroke than those who do not drink at all, adding to the existing body of evidence linking limited alcohol consumption with improved physical and mental health.

4 Ways to Curb Your Soda Consumption
According to a 2011 study conducted by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), the average American has a 50% chance of drinking a sugary drink such as soda on any given day of the year. Roughly 25% of the population consumes more than one soda per day, while 5% of the population consumes four or more sodas every single day.
If you fall into the latter category, it’s safe to conclude that you have an addiction to soda – specifically, an addiction to the sugar and/or caffeine that’s contained within the soft drink. The bad news is that excessive soda consumption can lead to a number of health problems, including an increased risk of heart disease and certain types of cancer. However, from an optimistic perspective, the good news is that you can easily curb your soda consumption using a variety of simple tips and techniques.

5 Ways to “Trick” Your Kids Into Eating Healthier
Recently, Tyson has been airing a chicken nuggets commercial in which kids describe the foods they dislike (“Spinach? Not a big fan;” “Mushrooms look like aliens;” “I don’t like lima beans”), only to be presented with a big pile of chicken nuggets that the narrator describes as “the one thing kids love, 100% of the time.”
There’s no doubt about it – children can be picky eaters. However, this doesn’t mean that parents need to resort to junk food (sorry Tyson, but we’ve seen the videos of what goes into chicken nuggets, and 100% natural does not equal 100% healthy food).
In fact, there are plenty of ways of getting your kids to eat healthy, more nutritious foods, and the best part is that they won’t be protesting or sticking their tongues out when you do.
Foodborne Illness Vaccine is Coming Soon
Foodborne illness, also referred to as foodborne disease and food poisoning, is any illness that results from consuming food that has been contaminated, pathogenic parasites, bacteria, or viruses that contaminate food, as well as other chemical or natural toxins.
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, the (CDC), estimates that approximately 48 million foodborne illness cases occur in the U.S. each year with at least 128,000 individuals being hospitalized and over 3,000 dying from contaminated food.
If recent studies are any indication, a foodborne illness vaccine that will protect against norovirus – the most common cause of foodborne illness in the United States – could be available to the general public well within the next half-decade.
According to Charles Arntzen of Arizona State University’s Center for Infectious Diseases and Vaccinology, norovirus vaccines have already been successful in multiple human trials, though additional studies are needed in order to determine how effective they’ll be overall.
