Inventors Design New Child Proof Bottle for Sprayed Products
Inventors have developed a new spray bottle that could prevent up to 6,000 injuries to children each year. These injuries occur when children gain access to spray bottles containing household cleaners and other chemicals, and accidentally spray the contents onto themselves. Parents would still ultimately be responsible for preventing their children from accessing chemical spray bottles to completely minimize the chance of harm, though the new child proof bottles would go a long way toward preventing accidents. In a move that will have you thinking “why didn’t I come up with that,” the inventors have taken the conventional spray bottle design — which features a forward-facing trigger located under the spray nozzle — and added a second trigger that protrudes from the rear side of the bottle. Both triggers must be depressed simultaneously for the spray bottle to dispense its contents.

Home Remedies for Dandruff: What Works, What Doesn’t
If you’ve spent any time using the Internet to research home remedies for dandruff recently, you’ve probably noticed advertisements for dandruff “miracle cures” you can apply at home using common household ingredients. In many cases, the suggestion is to apply baby oil, vegetable oil, olive oil or some other type of oil to your scalp to rid yourself of dandruff. The same treatments are purported to work on infants who have cradle cap, the name given to severe dandruff in babies. Unfortunately, researchers say that using vegetable or olive oil may actually increase the severity of dandruff rather than reverse it. Some less common home remedies for dandruff that can be found on the internet include aspirin, baking soda, apple cider vinegar, mouthwash, salt and garlic. The jury is still out on most of these “cures” as well, however.

Hair Loss Drug Side Effects Could Include Severe Depression
Men who take Propecia, a common hair-loss medication, may drastically increase their risk of hair loss drug side effects like severe depression if they also develop sexual side effects, according to a new study by the George Washington University School of Medicine and Health Sciences. During the study, 64% of those who developed long-term sexual side effects after taking Propecia reported depression ranging from moderate to severe. In addition, 40% of the men reported having suicidal thoughts. Many men who take Propecia report erectile dysfunction and/or low libido. These hair loss drug side effects persist even after the medication has been discontinued in a small percentage of men, but the effects of these long-term conditions are not known.

All-Natural Hair Removal Methods – Sugaring
Many natural hair removal methods that date back to ancient times are actually still in use today. For example, an Arabic technique known as “threading” is regaining popularity, often as a method for shaping eyebrows. The technique makes use of looped thread that pulls the hair out by the roots. Perhaps one of the best ancient and natural techniques actually involves the use of sugar. While it’s actual appearance is not clear, sugaring may have first become popular in the Middle East, particularly within areas like Persia around 1900 BC. One of the major draws to sugaring, according to one sugaring Seattle studio, is the fact that sugaring tends to be a much less irritative form of hair removal. Unlike waxing, sugaring does not remove live skin cells from your body, instead simply removing the dead skin cells that accumulate during the day.

Spray Tan Health Risks Highlighted in New Surprising Study
Spray tanning is widely favored by those looking to get some summer color without risking their health. The strategy seems sound, as many people try to limit their sun exposure to prevent getting skin cancer. The Skin Cancer Foundation states that around two million people are diagnosed annually. Unfortunately, a new study reported by ABC News indicates that spray tan health risks may be worse than previously believed. According to the report, virtually all spray tanning agents include dihydroxyacetone, or DHA, a chemical known to create genetic mutations in cells in laboratory studies. Although studies have yet to be conducted using human subjects, researchers warn that humans could be affected by these genetic mutations as well. Whether these genetic mutations would pose a health risk is another question that remains unanswered at this time.
