Trans Fat Levels Dropping in U.S. Adults
Americans officially have something to be proud of in the battle against obesity. A recently published study indicates that the average United States adult has far less trans fat in their blood today than they did just 10 years ago. Trans fat is considered the worst type of fat, and is most commonly found in processed foods. Several of the large food manufacturers have reduced or eliminated their use of trans fats in their processing, or trans fatty acids. This, in turn, is the most likely the primary cause for the decline in percentage of trans fat found in the blood.
The primary concern with consuming trans fat is that they increase low density lipoprotein (LDL) cholesterol levels while reducing the level of of beneficial high density lipoprotein (HDL) cholesterol in the blood. This is believed to significantly increase the risk of suffering from a heart attack.

Diet Soda Consumption Increases Risk of Heart Attack
If you are currently trying to lose weight safely and effectively, you probably already know that eliminating regular soda from your dietary regime, if you regularly consume soda, is one of the best ways to reduce your daily total intake of calories.
This being said, many dieters accomplish this by transitioning from drinking regular soda to drinking diet soda, which has zero calories and is sweetened artificially.
However, a newly published clinical study is indicating that switching to diet soda may not be a health-positive choice after all, whether you are actively trying to lose weight or not. According to the results of the diet soda and heart attack study, drinking diet soda on a daily basis can significantly increase your overall risk of suffering from A heart attack and/or stroke.

6 Snacks to Prevent a Sugar Addiction
If you’re a fitness enthusiast, you probably know how difficult it can sometimes be to say “no” to a rich, decadent dessert, let alone breaking a sugar addiction. Of course, everyone deserves a special treat from time to time, and there’s no reason not to indulge on occasion so long as you’re able to make up for the additional calories through exercise today or dietary considerations tomorrow.
The trick, then, is to make high-calorie, sugar-laden snacks and desserts an occasional splurge and not a regular component of your dietary regime. By doing so, you will reduce the overall number of calories that you consume on a daily basis. Secondly, you will not be consuming foods that are devoid of nutritional value, highly processed, and cause wild fluctuations in your blood sugar level.

Does Spanking Increase Child Aggression?
Parents have debated this vary question, to a varying degree, for literally centuries: does spanking a child teach them important lessons that add value to their life, or does it teach them that violence is an acceptable solution to a problem? It should be noted that there is an obvious difference between physically disciplining your child and physically abusing your child. In fact, as with most things in life there is a balance and physical discipline is no different.
A new study conducted by the University of Manitoba’s Family Social Sciences department indicates that slapping or spanking your child can have serious negative effects on their long-term development. However, it is also important to mention that there are conflicting studies that show that appropriate levels of physical discipline are beneficial in child rearing.
This being said, it is ultimately up to the parent to determine when and if physical discipline is necessary. To this end, it is important to remember that in times where discipline is required, the end goal is to use the approach that is best suited for teaching the lesson that actions have consequences.
