History

Caraway, also sometimes referred to as Persian cumin or Meridian fennel, is an herb native to western Asia, northern Africa, and Europe. The use of caraway dates back to the Stone age, and was later used as a flavoring in bread during the time of Julius Caesar. Accoding to German folklore, caraway was placed beneath beds to ward off witches, and used in love potions.
