Low Back Pain
Additional Information
Home Treatments:
The best thing to do for minor low back pain is to get some rest and limit the activity you do throughout the day. Try to lay off of heavy lifting, and avoid bending, and fast movements. Also taking a pain reliever can help to ease the pain. Do light activity throughout the day like, walking and minor stretching. Try not to stay in one position for a long period of time. The use of heating pads, creams, and a warm shower can improve the problem as well.
Professional Medical Treatments:
If the pain is severe and won't go away after a few days, it is best to see an orthopaedic surgeon for an examination. Sometimes a massage, acupuncture, or seeing a chiropractor can help alleviate the pain. Few people need back surgery, usually if they have herniated discs, or pain along with nerve damage.
Physical Therapy and Exercises:
Physical therapy can be needed if the pain continues for an extended period of time. Stretching your back, working your core, and watching your weight will help to stop back pain
Exercise Techniques to Prevent Injury:
Exercise regularly to stay loose and lessen the chances of pain returning. Use a spotter when lifting heavy, bend at the knees, and try to maintain good posture.
